IGD’s role in workplace well-being
A growing number of businesses and organisations are promoting employee health through activities taking place within the workplace.
IGD’s Industry Nutrition Strategy Group recognises the importance of workplace well-being in encouraging healthy eating. We have identified a number of initiatives relating to workplace health and well-being that include diet-related activities and may be helpful to organisations looking for further information. Some sources of information are listed via the link below.
Themes common to the different initiatives include the provision of advice based on sound nutrition, and several suggest using the Food Standards Agency’s ‘8 tips for eating well’ for this purpose. Initiatives also include making healthier options available through vending machines and workplace catering facilities. A key point made throughout the different workplace well-being and healthy eating initiatives is the need for activities to be tailored to the requirements of the particular workforce, and for employees to feel ownership and engagement.
