2009 was a turbulent year, and whilst grocery businesses have generally performed well, none have entirely escaped the pressures acting on the industry from the outside – indeed, the industry has moved rapidly to respond to changing shopper requirements.

As economic reconstruction gets underway and governments around the world continue to grapple with issues of sustainable development, the need for grocery businesses to maintain their strategic awareness and insight will continue to grow.

This new four-part series replaces the current Quarterly Economic Update and will build upon IGD’s reputation for knowledge and interpretation helping readers to keep abreast of changes which will impact the industry from the outside.

Drawing on the experiences of its senior industry contacts, IGD will identify changes in the industry environment which are of most concern to grocery businesses, and investigate the likely short- and long-term implications.

The Food & Grocery Monitor will be published four times in 2010 and is only available as a set. By ordering, you'll receive all four issues from throughout the year. Find out more about Issue Two here
