By Steve Sayce

Over the last few months, the IGD team has been hard at work behind the scenes on a major project, the outcome of which has just been unveiled.

We've been speaking to our customers about how we can help with account planning, market entry strategies, resource allocation and much more besides.

The new Datacentre marks the culmination of a year long project by IGD's analysts

One message has been loud and clear: they want robust, reliable retailer forecasts for this year and next based on organic growth and real-life scenarios.

Furthermore, they want regularly updated forecasts that have been put together by expert analysts and rigorous methodology.

So, that's why we're delighted to re-launch the Retail Analysis Datacentre.

Forecasts by people, not spreadsheets

The Datacentre has two sections, one focusing on retailers and the other on macroeconomics. The Retailer Database offers you a powerful resource for comparing operator performance within and across markets - insight that is invaluable for business planning such as market share, sales, store numbers and sales densities. We've put in forecasts for 2010 and 2011, and you can cut it by retailer, country or channel, whatever best fits your purpose.

Or, there's an even easier option - just choose one of our preset reports, designed to answer a whole range of your questions with the minimum of effort.

Some facts from the Datacentre

By the end of 2011, The Co-operative Group will have doubled both its sales and its selling area versus 2006 through organic growth and acquisition

Tesco will operate nearly four times the sales space in China than in Central Europe by the end of 2011

Food spend per capita is set to almost double in Brazil over 2006 – 2011

The Macroeconomic Database offers a wide range of measures to help you evaluate potential in retail markets across the world. Covering well over 100 markets, it's the authoritative one-stop resource for your market information needs.

It provides market size measures, including consumer, total retail, food and non food spend. It also tracks GDP, inflation, unemployment, and demographic measures such as population statistics and percentage of internet users - invaluable if you are evaluating market entry or working out where to invest.

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do at IGD - that's why we're prepared to invest in delivering exactly what they need. The new Datacentre represents a real step forward for us - and more importantly, for our customers.
